Is it common to sleep like a rock for 16 straight hours after a particularly stressful week?

I’m not talking about drinking and sleeping for 16 hours, but about going through particularly stressful and mildly traumatic events and simply plopping on the bed and going to sleep for the next 16 hours. Is sleep a kind of coping mechanism against stress — specially one that’s so long?

Totally normal. You were using more resources than normal. Plus you probably weren’t sleeping well during the week.
