I used to have low back pain all the time until I got a water bed.
Contrary to popular opinion a feather mattress as it allows the back to settle in a kind of soft nest. Personally I have proved it, but consult your doctor
My best recommendation is to find a mattress that offers enough support that your spine stays aligned but not so much support that you can’t get comfortable enough to fall asleep. Whenever I have mattress questions, I go to http://www.qmattresses.com/. They offer info on the top names in mattresses (and even some less known) and it’s all based on what other customers have said. I have been researching the very same thing for myself lately and I think I am going to go with either a Serta iComfort or a Trump.
I used to have low back pain all the time until I got a water bed. I now I have a fake pillow top bed and that seems to work as well.
