I am having a problem with condensation between my mattress and box spring. I live in an older house and my bedroom is really small. I have to dry the mattress and box spring off about once a week or two. What would be causing this?
It is a lady americana mattress. And no the boxspring is not directly on the floor. It’s on a frame.

A couple months ago my three year old was complaining about itching after nap and bed time. I have stripped his room and bed apart several times(even flipping his box spring over and looking inside) looking for bedbugs. Nothing. Now I am getting bites as well. They are itchy but they dont turn red and bump up like mosquito or spider bites. I thought scabies, but there is no where near a spread over the body relevant to the time frame.???Anybody?!

Termites got into the wood in the box spring. Is it safe to transport the mattress alone to another location, or will I be transporting termites as well? I really want to keep the mattress, but don’t want to keep the termites.

My one roommate definitely has evidence of bed bugs in his room and has since gotten rid of his mattress and box spring. My question is how easily can the move to other rooms of the house? And if I have not noticed any evidence of them in my room, is there chances that they are still there? The rooms are about 20 feet apart separated by a large open area with clothes closets in between.

How can I deal with my flea problem?

About a week ago, in an attempt to help a stray cat I found on my porch (I live on a very busy road), I let the cat in for about an hour before my friend was able to pick me up and help take it to the shelter. At the time the cat looked healthy, well taken care of and I examined for fleas and ear mites but didn’t see any.

Two days ago I started noticing a few fleas and began to worry. I previously have had cats and when they got fleas there was little problem getting rid of them. But now that it is just me I am worried since the fleas have found their way into my bedroom. They are mainly in my room (which is carpeted) and the living room where the cat was originally (there are two couches & hardwood floors in the living room).

Last night a friend helped me bug bomb the place using Hartz Ultra Guard Plus and everything seemed to go okay. But today, returning to my apartment after letting it air out, I am already noticing a few fleas. It does not appear as bad as before but there are definitely quite a few in the living room and a few still in my room.

The living room is never used right now (I rarely go in there) but seems to be the worst of the two, and though I was already going to throw one couch out I was hoping to salvage the other. But after using the bug bomb there still are a lot more fleas than I’m happy with.

I bought Raid spray that is specifically for fleas and started to coat my mattress, box spring, headboard, and was set to do the carpet when it ran out, but I was planning on getting more. I am just terrified now that if that doesn’t work what I should do. I was hoping the flea bombs would have been the end of it.

Is there anything else I can do or should be doing to stop this? According to my friend, I do not have a full on infestation just yet, and I am hoping that if I catch it now I can prevent any other damage. My biggest fears are that I am moving back with my parents soon and I do not want to bring this problem with me. I do not know if there is any hope left for the couch but my bed, at least, I would like to save.

Sorry this post is long, but here’s essentially what I’m worried about/dealing with:

-I used a flea bomb (Hartz) yesterday and am still seeing a few fleas today (I have seen 2 fleas in my bedroom in the last hour and a half, but this is considering that I have been pulling apart my bed and crawling on the floor). Will the bug bomb chemicals continue to affect and kill them or should they all have been dead aftewards?

-I have some furniture that has fleas on them. Will spraying them down with Raid spray be enough?

-I am also leaving today for a week and am hoping that my absence (me being the only one living here, no pets) will also help in this process. My friend will be in town and said he would come in and check how things were going and is continuing to help me get rid of them.

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated!

I just wanted to know if you can buy another type of mattress and box spring with an Ikea bed. The bed I like is a metal frame. But I didn’t like the fact that you can only buy a wooden slatted base with the mattress. Is the bed comfortable like that? I kinda would prefer a mattress with box spring from a brand known for making mattresses (i.e. Sealy, Serta, etc.) What do you think?

…get out asap because of mold
I have not been living here that long but it has apparently been leaking since before I moved in- I heard about November or December- and I was wondering what I should do because I was about to move some more furniture in including a bed with a frame and box spring as I’m living on an air mattress here now- and I don’t know if I want to be doing that now as I might want to get out because of the leak and possible mold damage?
