What kind of bug bit me!!?

Okay I just got back from a 4 day camping/canoeing/kayaking trip in northern Michigan. I slept in a tent on an air mattress with my cousin. It was possible for bugs to crawl in though. When we got home we both noticed 6 to 10 tiny bug bites on our hands and ankles. So I’m wondering what kind of bug it is. Please help!!! Thank you! Let me know if you need more info!

plug in cords for camping (blowing up matress)?

They have regular electrical outlets for basically everything, and then they have outlets in your car right? (for cellphones and stuff. I bought an electrical air pump for a camping mattress and I assumed it would be made for the car outlet, however it is for a regular outlet. I did not bother looking at the box closely because for some reason I did not think they would make one if it was for camping. Anyhow, can you buy extension cords to plug into the car that will convert a regular cord? For example can you use a truck outlet to somehow use a hairdryer or something? Do they even exist?

I am thinking about ordering a new camping back pack and was looking at the High Sierra Sentinel 65. It says that it holds 65 liters, but is that just the main compartment or does that include the sleeping bag section and the smaller pouches on the pack?

I just saw this picture on the internet….

…and I immediately decided that I need to have one. It’s too freaking weird not to own. My friends want to go camping and I think it would be hysterical to bring one of these. I need to be able to order one in california though. It can’t be the kind with the arms that I see people selling, those aren’t funny enough.

How do I get the cat pee out?

My cats have peed on a few things that are hard to wash: a camping mattress, piano keyboard case, backpack. Aside from the issue of them doing it in the first place, how can I get the scent out? What brand of spray works best? can any of these things be dry cleaned or cleaned in some other way? :(

Question about taking a baby camping. ?

My SO and I plan to take our 6.5 month old camping within the next month. We have a tent that fits 2 people. It’s too small to put her play yard in so she would have to sleep with us on a foam mattress on the ground.

Should we just go out and spend 0 on a bigger tent?

I was thinking it might even be a good idea to use the small tent as a play area to keep her safe and out of the sun while she’s playing. She’s already crawling backwards and very close to going forwards so she would want to be on the ground getting in to everything.

Is this a good plan?
Is there anything you strongly recommend bringing when taking a baby camping?
It’s about a 3 hour drive from here but it’s a 10 minute drive to a small town.

What was your experience with taking a baby camping?

my boyfriend and I are trying to plan a camping trip during the last week of july but we can’t seem to figure out where to go. Obv. the end of july in the north east is pretty hot and humid so I am trying to figure out where the best location would be. Would going down the shore and being near/at the beach be better, for swimming and the ocean breeze, or would the mountains be a little cooler and less humid?
The only thing my boyfriend cares about doing is fishing and having a campfire and just relaxing, and in addition to that it would be nice if there was free/inexpensive things to do in the area [for example we went to Cape May last year and there's the zoo which is free, the lighthouse which is cheap and all the beaches]
I would prefer to stay in a cabin but we do have a big tent and an air mattress if necessary.

Also I am thinking of no more than about a 3-4 hour drive, we live in central nj so I am basically thinking south jersey, north east/central PA, possibly upstate NY or even maybe DE or MD.

any opinions either beach or mountains or any suggestions of good places to go would be appreciated!!

What do you have to take camping?

Me and my family haven’t been camping since 2007. We always would go to Saint Andrews. It’s a campground in Florida. We already know we have to have a tent. We have air beds. But we aren’t going hiking or anything. Last year we took an air conditioner and stuck it in the tent and had the back of it outside of the door part. And we took a little grill. And coolers. But what else do we need other than that stuff?

How to prop pillows while sleeping on an air bed?

So I am going camping soon and will be sleeping on an airbed which is fine except for I prefer to have my pillows slanted at-least a little when i sleep and the air mattress I will be sleeping on does not have a built in pillow. In the past my ideas usually ended up with my head slipping down and waking up with a somewhat stiff neck.. I prefer to do that as little as possible. I have a few no cost ideas of my own for this year that may work but I wanted to see if anyone else had any better ideas first. Thanks.
