Which sleeping bag of the two is better?

I have two sleeping bags, and I do a lot of camping. I camp in the summer, winter, hot, cold, wet, dry, woods, rock… pretty much anything. Anyway, I’m doing a 9-day high adventure thing near Magdalena, New Mexico, in the summer. It’s sopposed to be hot during the day, cold at night-but above freezing. So, I don’t know which of my two sleeping bags to bring.

1- a lightweight "pertex" bag, I’m not sure if that’s the company.. it also says things on the tag like "EMS LT 20" , "Thinsulate lite loft insulation", and "3M". I’ve used it before, and it works good, although it isn’t very waterproof.

2- a slightly heavier "L.L Bean" "Hollofil 808", I have not used this yet but it looks warm.

They are both filled with polyester, but the pertex lining is Nylon, and the LL bean just looks like a blanket on the inside.

Which one should I use for cold, but not freezing weather? Which one in general is bettter?

If you need more deatails, e-mail me and I’ll do my best

im at my sister-in-law’s house with my family. My 3 kids have to sleep in sleeping bags in one of her boy’s room, while the boy is sleeping in his brother’s room. My kids keep getting up early in the morning to play with his toys. The toys are kept in a closet with 2 doors that fold into themselves to open, and they have figured out how to open it. My husband and I have to sleep on an air mattress in the livingroom. Im a light sleeper also. I cant sleep if they are playing with toys, because I can hear them playing or fighting over the toys. This morning alone, Ive spanked all 3 of them 3 times in a row. My husband and I are in an arguement over it and I dont know what to do. He is more leniet than I am. Ive got twin 3 yrs olds and a 19 month old. I think my twin dd has autism and my twin ds has add. My 19 mon old has hit the "terrible twos" early. We are visiting several more people on this vacation and I know my kids are always going to be stuck in one room everytime. Im so upset and trying not to cry. This is the 1st vaction ive had in 4 yrs and I dont know what to do.

Hi girls..

My boy is 10 weeks on thursday. I still half swaddle him with the proper swaddle blanket..(under his arms)

How do you dress your baby to sleep?
How do you put your baby to sleep? How many blankets (if you use them)
Do you use the sleeping bags? If so when did you start using them?

Hope your all okay :]

Living in Arizona, I struggle with a very limited camping season. Given the fact that the summer (May through September, in my opinion) is almost un-liveably hot, you might THINK that October-April (which is very nice, like paradise) would be a great camping season.

Well in a way, it is…the question is, where?

So at regular altitude, Arizona is great starting right now. The problem is that it’s no fun camping anywhere that altitude is like that. (i.e. – lakes, waters, rivers, fishing, woods, pine trees……..) for the most part the fun places in Arizona start getting cold really fast in October.

Right now I want to go camping in Payson. In my tent it will be questionable as to temperature. Of course we have raised mattresses and good sleeping bags, but I’m starting to want to branch out and get more creative in terms of generating heat. (without buying an RV)

Any suggestions for products I may not know about, that will generate some heat inside my simple, 6-person dome tent.

Of course, I’m looking for something that burns little or no oxygen so that we don’t just "die comfortably".
that’s good information but man i hate to spend again on a tent, just had bought myself a nice big dome one. however i have also found out there are Coleman Catalytic Heaters – that can be safely run in a tent – yay !!
Hmmm.. definitely would not agree with your assessment of catalytic heaters, Coleman specifically markets ALL of them for use in indoor tents, suggesting you leave a very small opening (6") of air. Yes it burns oxygen, but very little compared to flames …

and that’s the whole point, to have it right next to your body practically. Get the tent good and warm, then turn it off and go to sleep.

Four friends and I are planning a last minute camping trip this weekend but none of us have ever been camping. We plant to stay at a public campsite in a tent for just 1 or 2 nights.

Even though there are only 5 of us we figure we better get a six person tent for space, but what kind/brand of tent is the best, for around 0.00? It’s been a little rainy lately so we should probably get something that is waterproof. I’ve heard that even if they say they are waterproof, you should still waterproof them yourself. How is this done?

What should we bring? There’s five of us and we will only have one tent. So, air mattresses are probably out of the question and we will probably only camp one night. I’ve looked at a few sleeping bags, but it’s the middle of the summer and I want something lightweight. I don’t really understand the temperature ratings and the highest temp I have seen is 50 degrees, is this lightweight enough for summer sleeping?

We plan to bring a cooler with drinks, but what foods are best to cook over a fire or on a campsite grill? We will for sure do smores but we are not fans of hotdogs. What about breakfast foods?

What types of lanterns are the best, there are many different types of bulbs, sizes, lumens, and power sources and we have no clue which are the best.

Do you recommend staying at a campground with lake access or one with pool access?

What other things should we pack?

What are good activities for us to do? We’ll probably bring cards but what else?

Do you have any idea which campgrounds are best in middle Tennessee?

Thanks for your help!

I know this is a weird question!! I’m sorry!
But, some readers are really sensitive when it comes to these types of things.

It’s for my book.

Do you find anything wrong with it? They’re around 17 years old. A boy and girl.
@Twiggy: Oh, sorry. I was imagining my family’s HUGE sleeping bags that literally could fit 2 people in each. Ha ha.

what is a sleeping bag that would be suit me?

I am looking to buy a decent sleeping bag. I plan to ditch the tent and just sleep on the ground when I go camping. I camp in warm-hot weather but sometimes cold so I would like something that would best fit all conditions. I would like something durable and comfortable. if you could please name some sleeping bags that would best fit me.
